BEDC refutes fictitious information on license withdrawal message by EDOSCO

The attention of the Management of BEDC Electricity PLC (BEDC), has been drawn to a fictitious online publication posted by the Edo State Civil Societies Organization (EDOSCO) that the operating license of BEDC has been withdrawn and that customers in Benin, should not pay for electricity based on this position. We wish to strongly condemn the publication in its entirety which is a propaganda by EDOSCO, an organization peddling misinformation, after BEDC instituted court cases against some of it’s members for illegal tampering with power equipments. Our esteemed customers should thus discountenance such deliberate misrepresentation as there is no withdrawal of the license of BEDC . Conference Of Speakers Sets Up Reconciliatory, Fact-finding Committee To Intervene On Assemblies' Crises

The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has set up a reconciliatory cum fact-finding committee to intervene and amicably resolve the crises in some state Houses of Assembly in the country. This was part of the decision reached at the end of the 3rd Quarter General Meeting of the Conference which took place between 7 and 8 December, 2018 in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State. Reading the communique after the end of the meeting on Sunday morning, the Chairman of the Conference and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. EFCC Arrests Doyin Okupe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken Dotun Okupe, a former aide to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan into custody. According to Okupe, the EFCC operatives arrived his residence in Lagos on Saturday, and asked him to follow them. EFCC To Arraign NBA President Paul Usoro For N1.4billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has charged the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Paul Usoro (SAN), with an alleged fraud of N1.4bn. Usoro was charged before the Federal High Court in Lagos. The charge sheet, marked FHC/418c/18, was filed before Justice Muslim Hassan. The judge has fixed December 10, 2018 for the arraignment of the NBA President. In the charge sheet, sighted on Wednesday by our correspondent, the EFCC claimed that Usoro converted and laundered the money in connivance with the governor of his state, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State. Emmanuel was however not listed as a defendant in the charge, as the EFCC indicated that he is “currently constitutionally immuned against criminal prosecution”.
