"The Lies Against Me, People Behind Them" Akpabio

Image
There are three kinds of people. In the first category you have those who make things happen. In the second category you have those who talk about those who make things happen. And in the third category you have those who do not know what is happening. God has ordained for me to make things happen, and I am grateful to Him. That is my ministry. Those who talk about the people who make things happen also have this as their ministry. They constitute the Gossip League. If I have been a major gossip commodity in their “enterprise”, I bless the name of the Lord. There is one thing worse than being talked about and that is not being talked about. But when they take their trade (gossip) to embarrassing heights of absurdity, one painfully has to undertake the task of reining them in and ensuring that lies and falsehood do not flourish in our State and invoke God’s wrath. It is not about me, but about the law of sowing and reaping. Rest assured that every idle and malicious talk would b

'Way Forward In The Governorship Election' Wole Arisekola Writes Akwa Ibom People

Image
For the last couple of days, I have spent my energy and time addressing some post election issues and controversies especially the needless blackmailing of Senator Godswill Akpabio by enemies within and outside his party . The purpose of writing this article is to reset the brains of few educated illiterates who think they are mocking God’s anointed son. First, I want to underscore that my purpose is not to incite any form of tribal sentiment against any group but to put the records straight that the unfortunate event that happened last Saturday was as a result of an avoidable mistake among the leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state. My primary purpose for writing this article is to offer advice on how we can face the electoral umpire together as a team in the next election in the state. My strong conviction is that all forms of hatred, resentment, anger and malice are wasted emotional and psychological energy that could be better channeled into improving one

Saraki: Kwarans define leadership

Image
By Tunde Ajose The term leadership could simply be defined as exemplified between the good people of Kwara State and their leader, the Nigerian senate president, Bukola Saraki, especially due to the result of the last presidential election. Saraki, instead of being sad over the results, where the opposition party won massively, knew there was need to calm his people's nerves and addressed their grievances. This is in order to find a lasting solution to the lingering peace of the state that's being threatened by the opposition party's 'do or die' attitude. In the last 5 days, the senate president has touched base with his people and both have realised where there are needs to make amends, agreed to work together to shame those who used money and power harassment to sway votes. The interactions led to revelations and self assessments.  Kwara electorates discovered to their chagrin that the alternatives they wanted to dump Saraki for don'

Victoria Island Residents Panic Over Lafarge Dangerous Production Activities

Image
Unless the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) swiftly rises to curtail the activities of Bar Beach Plant of Lafarge WAPCO Plc, the already endangered lives of residents of Victoria Island, especially those living in Noga Estate and Tiamiyu Savage axis, are on the brink of being cut short by terminal illnesses. As it stands, the long standing peaceful relationship between Lafarge Cement and its host community of Bar Beach, Victoria Island is about to be threatened by complaints over dust pollution and the company’s insensitivity. It beggars belief that Lagos State Government, in spite of spirited appeals has not been able to do anything to stem the sustained and rising tide of environmental poisoning of the area by the cement giant, in desperate pursuit of profit. A visit to the Noga Estate, whose residents are worst hit, revealed a people consistently plagued with clouds of dust and smoke hovering in the mid-sky. The thick particles often settle on their roofs, f

Ogun2019: Who are Tinubu, Adams in the gateway state?

Image
By Tunde Ajose The emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in a state does not mean that the party's gubernatorial candidate would have an easy ride. This was what the election held on 23rd of February threw up. If it were so, the pundits who had predicted a loss for the executive governor of Ogun State in the last election would have taken the crown. But unfortunately for them, the paid analysts and their paymaster, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu's projection fall flat on its face, as the governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun despite all odds, seamlessly clinched the Ogun Central Senatorial district mandate. The odd included the alleged Tinubu bankrolling the African Democratic Congress candidate, Titi Oseni, who pulled a meagre 37,101 votes as against Amosun's 88,110 votes. Despite the anti-party activities of the so-called APC's party national leader, which was meant to work against the election of Buhari in the gateway st
