The Democratic Front (DF), a pressure group in Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the front runner for the national chairmanship of the party has entered into an unholy pact with Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the party to rig the Osun APC gubernatorial primaries for Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola. In a press statement signed by its Chief Spokesperson, Alhaji Rarzack Adeleke and circulated in Osogbo, the group that is known for championing internal democracy in the party disclosed that it has commenced the mobilization of the state delegates in the forthcoming national convention of the party not to vote for the former governor of Edo State. Kayode Fayemi, minister of mines and steel, walked out of the meeting which Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and some party leaders held with the governorship aspirants of the APC in Ekiti state, on Tuesday. The meeting took place at the Lagos state government house in Asokoro, Abuja. Some of the party leaders in attendance were Bisi Akande, pioneer chairman of the party; Segun Osoba, former Ogun state governor; Niyi Adebayo, former Ekiti state governor; and Pius Akinyelure; zonal vice chairman of the APC in the south-west. President Muhammadu Buhari has advised members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress wishing to retain their positions or aspire for another to resign and re-contest in line with the party’s constitution. Buhari, who gave the advice in his opening remarks during the 5th National Executive Council meeting of the APC in Abuja on Tuesday, opposed tenure elongation for the NWC members. He faulted the earlier decision of the party’s NEC to grant one year extension to party executives at all levels, citing a breach of relevant sections of the party’s constitution, as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), as a reason for his action. President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday led other top government officials elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress to a meeting of the party’s national caucus. The meeting was held at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Other top government officials who attended the meeting are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and governors. National chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, led other officers of the party to the meeting. The national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was however absent from the meeting. Tinubu is heading a presidential reconciliation committee set up to reconcile aggrieved party members across the country. Away from the publicity blitz of “extraordinary performance”, sources disclose Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode is battling a thickening plot. He is fighting mounting attempt to limit him to a single term in office. Sources disclosed those spearheading the move are party men and “investors” dissatisfied with the administrative style of the Lagos Governor.
