The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that on his return from Dubai, he was unusually searched by security agents with the aim of intimidating him. Abubakar returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday from Dubai, where he had been on holiday after winning the party’s presidential primary. The primary was held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on October 7 and 8. Atiku, who arrived in Abuja in a private jet, was said to have been accompanied by some of his aides and children. While in Dubai, he held meetings with members of his campaign team led by the Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, who is also the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki;  National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus; and his (Atiku’s) running mate, Mr Peter Obi, among others. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has announced his formal return to the Peoples Democratic Party. He did the switch in the format of the information age: by announcing it Live on Facebook on Sunday following what he called his consultations with party leaders and stakeholders from across the country. Atiku was a member of the All Progressives Congress until last week when he announced his departure. The party said he would not be sorely missed. The PDP has a national convention scheduled for 9 December in Port Harcourt. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress. In a statement released today Friday November 24, 2017 the Waziri of Adamawa detailed how he was talked into joining APC when his party then (PDP) became factionalized. It reads “On the 19th of December, 2013, I received members of the All Progressives Congress at my house in Abuja.
